When the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 was launched, it was very well-received by consumers. Retailing at a very affordable price point, Xiaomi’s latest iteration of the Redmi Note boasts specifications that are on par with devices twice – or thrice – its asking price, and now, its hardware is about to get even better.
As it turns out, a different variant of the Redmi Note 3 has been registered on TENAA, which is China’s equivalent of SIRIM in Malaysia. Although nothing has changed in terms of design, there is one very evident change with this new model of the Redmi Note 3: it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor.
That’s right. Instead of a MediaTek Helio X10 processor (which is a very capable processor), this variant of the Redmi Note 3 will pack one of Qualcomm’s best processors to date. To put things into perspective, the Snapdragon 808 is found under the hood of the LG G4 and the Nexus 5X; two very capable Android devices.
Aside from a different processor, the Snapdragon 808 variant of the Redmi Note 3 is similar to its MediaTek counterpart. It has a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, 13MP rear and 5MP front-facing cameras, a rear fingerprint sensor, as well as one very important thing: this Redmi Note 3 supports both WCDMA and FDD LTE, which suggests that this could be an international device.
Of course, until Xiaomi officially announce this variant of the Redmi Note 3, we don’t know for sure if it will be available internationally. Let’s hope the rapidly growing Chinese company will reveal this device along with the Xiaomi Redmi 3 soon.
