GrabCar is celebrating the festive season with Star Wars The Force Awakens cars. These promotional cars will be available for rides until 30 December, and are part of a pair of Star Wars contests being run by the company. Although those who don’t want to win the prizes can still hail the cars for regular rides.
There are some 150 Star Wars themed GrabCars currently roaming the streets waiting for passengers, and these cars can be hailed using a special tab in the MyTeksi app. It should cost the same as a regular ride, and those who complete at least one journey in one of these cars will automatically be entered in the contest to win Star Wars The Force Awakens movie tickets.
On the other hand, those who are not too keen on winning movie tickets can also join in the social media contest by taking pictures of the Star Wars cars and posting them to social media with the appropriate hashtags. There is no information about what merchandise is being given away in the contest.
The cars on the road are being divided into the Resistance – decorated with the bright orange of BB-8 – and the First Order – who have Stormtrooper decals applied. Aside from the allegiance there is no difference between the vehicles, all of which appear to be Toyotas of varying models. At least from what we’ve seen.
