If you’ve always wanted a huge Android device, the Samsung Galaxy View could be available in Malaysia very soon. Featuring a large 18.4-inch display, this “tablet” – if it can even be considered one – is ideal for media consumption above all else.
Unveiled a couple of months ago, the Galaxy View has appeared on SIRIM. A quick Google searched revealed that the model registered on SIRIM is the 32GB WiFi model; no LTE connectivity here. Unlike any of Samsung’s previous Android devices, the View is a completely different product. Although Samsung markets the View as a tablet, it shares more similarity with a smart TV. After all, it’d be pretty inconvenient to bring the View anywhere outside of the house with its huge 18.4-inch full HD display.
That being said, it seems like the Galaxy View is ideal for use around the house. You could take it to the kitchen and watch some YouTube videos while cooking, or bring it to the bedroom to play some games before going to sleep. In that sense, the built-in handle and kickstand will come in handy. Other specifications of the Galaxy View include a 1.6GHz octa-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM, a 5,700mAh battery that promises up to eight hours of video playback, and a front-facing 2.1MP camera.
The Samsung Galaxy View is priced at US$599 in the US, which comes up to about RM2,575. It’s worth noting, however, that a SIRIM certification does not guarantee the availability of this tablet in Malaysia.
