Over the weekend, Digi launched its first “People’s Tower” in Setia Alam after the conclusion of its recent campaign called “You Tweet, We Build”. The campaign was organised on Twitter, where users would tweet the location they wanted Digi to set up its 4G LTE tower; complete with the hashtag #DigiWeWant4G.
Setia Alam is the first location to get Digi’s 4G LTE People’s Tower. With the telco now having 60% population coverage, Digi has brought 4G LTE access to 80 key cities and towns. On top of that, Digi has also activated its 4G LTE-Advanced network nationwide which has a 22% coverage.
Here are the top 10 list of the people’s vote for Digi’s 4G LTE tower in no particular order:
- Setia Alam, Selangor
- Jejawi, Perlis
- Lunas, Kedah
- Arau, Perlis
- Batu Gajah, Perak
- Limbang, Sarawak
- Papar, Sabah
- Tenom, Sabah
- Bau, Sarawak
- Simpang Renggam, Johor
Christian Thrane, Digi’s Chief Marketing Officer stated that:
We’re calling this the first people’s tower and that’s what it truly is – the people’s choice. The enthusiastic local community of Setia Alam campaigned hard to put their area on the rollout map, we heard them and we’re delivering 4G LTE right to their doorstep.
He also acknowledged that Digi has lots more to do in improving its network, not just with coverage but in terms of network density as well. With the first People’s Tower set up, we’re intrigued to see which location will be getting the next Digi’s 4G LTE People’s Tower.
