Asus ROG gaming laptops weren’t the only ones that has been refreshed with Skylake processors in Malaysia. Asus’ lineup of slim laptops, the K series, has also been updated with Intel’s latest and greatest series of processors yet. The best part is, the most affordable variant goes for RM2,699.
Just like the ROG gaming laptops that we have just reported, we spotted the refreshed K series laptops on Asus’ product guide for the months of December 2015 and January 2016. The guide showed that there are two variants of the K series laptops: K401UB and K501UB, which are 14-inch and 15-inch laptops respectively.
Aside from the size of the display, the 15-inch variant also has a faster Intel Core i7-6500U processor, while the smaller 14-inch variant runs on a Core i5-6200U chipset instead. Other than these differences, the K401UB and K501UB are virtually identical to each other. Both have a 1920 x 1080 full HD display, an NVIDIA GT 940M graphics card, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a 1TB SATA HDD, and Windows 10 Home out of the box. As for the retail prices of these two laptops, the K401UB and K501UB are priced at RM2,699 and RM3,199 respectively.
As is the case with the Asus ROG gaming laptops, Asus has not officially launch the refreshed K series in Malaysia yet; it’s possible that these laptops will not be available for purchase until then. Regardless, we will keep a close eye for any invite from Asus Malaysia.
