GoPro has updated its iOS app to integrate a new app for the Apple Watch. The update now turns the Apple Watch into a remote control for GoPro cameras that have Wi-Fi equipped. This is certainly a nice addition for those who are already recording on GoPros and have an Apple Watch on their wrist.
The Apple Watch app lets the user start or stop recording, adjust the GoPro’s settings, and also tap to add a ‘HiLight’, which is basically a bookmark that allows the user to find the specific frame during post-editing.
On top of that, the update also allows the Apple Watch to be a remote viewfinder for the connected GoPro camera. This makes it easier for the user to frame their shots before they start recording. In addition, users can also add a shortcut on the watch face to quickly start recording.
In line with the company’s upcoming drone called the Karma, GoPro also added some new features for the iOS app itself. Users can now scroll through a video to find a frame and save it as an image. Since the app is now able to control recording, transfer video files, and adjust settings; we presume that the drone will also be able to use the iPhone or Apple Watch as a remote control.
GoPro cameras or the Apple Watch might be a bit costly, but the idea is rather interesting. Those who want to try the feature out can update the GoPro app on their iOS device and start pairing it with their Apple Watch.
