GoPro’s entry into the drone market has been known for quite some time, and now, the upcoming product has received a name. Dubbed Karma, it will be GoPro’s first-ever drone, and it is slated to be released as early as next year.
Aside from announcing the name of its upcoming drone, GoPro did not reveal any key specifications of the Karma, although it did give us a few test footage – which was actually unveiled back in October – to show the capability of the mysterious drone. That being said, judging by GoPro’s history, the Karma should be capable of shooting videos in 4K. After all, GoPro has some tough competition in the drone market.
One such competitor is DJI, which is one of the most established drone makers in the industry. Not too long ago, DJI also announced its own 4K camera with a handheld stabiliser, the Osmo. It’s interesting how both GoPro and DJI are getting into each other’s territory; it will be interesting to see how they stack up to each other in the future.
The GoPro Karma is expected to be unveiled sometime in 2016. Interestingly, GoPro is also giving away 100 units of the Karma. In order to stand a chance to win, all you have to do is sign up here, although it’s unclear if Malaysians are eligible. With CES 2016 just around the corner, we might see the Karma make an appearance at the event next year.
