Overwatch, Blizzards next game, will not be charging players for additional characters and maps. Instead, the developer says this kind of content will be released for free; i.e. it will not be charging players for DLC. The announcement was made to alleviate concerns among fans who were afraid that they would be shelling out even more money after paying $60 (about RM250) for the game.
Game director Jeff Kaplam took to Youtube to address feedback from the beta test community, which included things like turning off the Kill Cam and player results cards that appear after each match. However, the big news was the announcement about future content for Overwatch. There is no timetable for when new heroes will be added to the game; which isn’t surprising considering that Overwatch is still in the closed beta phase.
Interestingly, Kaplam also pointed out that the identities of the new heroes have been hinted at in the existing maps as easter eggs.
The Overwatch closed beta will be closing on 10 December, and will go into another development phase. Blizzard expects to bring the beta test back at some point in mid-January.
