Google released a new app that allows users to take VR photos of landscapes that will be more immersive when viewed through the Google Cardboard viewer. With the Cardboard Camera, users can capture panoramic pictures in the same way they would take normal photos. The app also captures ambient noise and adds it to the picture to increase the immersion for the viewer.
However, the Cardboard Camera has a few flaws as well. For instance, PC Magazine reported that the photos captured with the app will be impossible to be shared among other peers. The website also added that although users will still be able to pan around the photos in a 360-degree, they won’t be able to capture the view if they attempt to look up and down. Instead, these areas will appear blank.
The Cardboard Camera seems very appealing despite its flaws, especially if you love taking photographs. Besides, the app appears to be a good source of inspiration for graphic designers.
