Thanks to a media invite that has just landed in our inbox, it has come to our attention that Telekom Malaysia (TM) will be announcing its collaboration with iflix this week. As the announcement will only take place tomorrow, details regarding the collaboration are rather scarce at the moment but we were made to understand that it will benefit TM’s high speed broadband customers.
At the same time, it was stated in the media invite that this is the first such collaboration in the region and was done to strengthen TM’s contents. The announcement will be made by Jeremy Kung, the Executive Vice President of New Media in TM as well as iflix Malaysia’s CEO, Azran Osman-Rani who is also the Chief Operating Officer for iflix Group.
Considering the comment that Jeremy has made regarding iflix in a report earlier this year, it is indeed an interesting decision made by TM to partner up with iflix. Not to forget that TM also operate its own video streaming service in the form of HyppTV Everywhere.
Now with TM on its side, iflix’s list of partners which also include Samsung, DiGi, and Intel has certainly grew very rapidly in just six months after its public launch. As challenging as the online video streaming industry might be, things seemed to be going rather well for iflix.
