Samsung announced that it will be releasing updated versions of the Galaxy A Series. Samsung said that the newly updated Galaxy A series will offer its customers a premium design, easy mobile payment technology and better camera features. The Galaxy A (2016) series consists of the Galaxy A3, A5 and A7.
The biggest update for the Galaxy A (2016) series would have be the addition of a fingerprint scanner on the 5.2-inch A5 and 5.5-inch A7. In relation to that, both the smartphones will also come with support for Samsung Pay – Samsung’s mobile payment – which is further secured by fingerprint verification via the fingerprint scanner. Unfortunately, Samsung Pay is still not supported here in Malaysia.
Besides that, there are also improvements to the A3 CPU speed: 1.5GHz from a previous 1.2GHz. However, the A3 won’t have support for Samsung Pay since it does not come with a fingerprint scanner nor does it have support for 5GHz Wi-Fi.
Interestingly, the Galaxy A (2016) series will also feature a much improved camera system. The improvements will include Optical Image Stabilization and a F1.9 lens for the front and rear camera. In addition to that, Samsung has also introduced the Quick Launch feature which will launch the camera – in less than a second – by double clicking the home button. This feature is currently present in Samsung’s flagship series smartphones.
It’s worth noting that the Galaxy A (2016) series will initially be made available to China around the middle of December. Samsung said that a worldwide rollout will come eventually. For more details about the refreshed Galaxy A series, head on over to Samsung’s website.
