Recently, Fitbit announced new software features to further enhance its line of wearable devices. The new software features bring plenty of additional functions to the Fitbit Charge HR and Fitbit Surge. Besides that, there is also a new feature for the free Fitbit App, which may be useful to its consumers.
One of the new features that Fitbit brings to its wearable devices is the addition of SmartTrack. SmartTrack provides Fitbit users a much simpler way to track workouts and review how it affects the fitness goals. In addition to that, the SmartTrack will automatically detect and record workouts as well as exercise routines of the user. The SmartTrack will also give Fitbit users the flexibility to personalise their settings like recognition of an exercise routine and the duration before the Fitbit starts recording the activities.
Besides new features, Fitbit also enhanced its PurePulse – continuous wrist-based heart-rate monitor – by providing its users better heart rate tracking when on high-intensity workouts. This feature is available for the Fitbit Charge HR and Fitbit Surge.
Last but not least, the free Fitbit app also gets an update: Exercise Goals. Exercise Goals does exactly what its name says, giving users a weekly exercise goal which is tracked on a daily basis. Exercise Goals is customisable in terms of choosing the amount of target exercise that will be done in a week and the activities that will contribute towards achieving the fitness goals. The progress is displayed on the Fitbit app.
All the software updates are available free of charge for Fitbit users. The Fitbit app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store, Google Play Store and Windows Store. However, Fitbit says that these features aren’t available on Android yet, but an update for the app will come soon.
