Mountain Dew has just ended its regional and university qualifiers for the Mountain Dew Dota 2 Challenge. The location for the grand final has been set and it will be at TGV Cinemas 1 Utama, Petaling Jaya. The event will be held for two days, which is on the 5th to 6th of December 2015.
The group stages will be held at the Orange Esports Stadium in Setapak on the 4th of December, before heading to the grand final of the Mountain Dew Challenge at TGV Cinemas. This is where all 24 teams from across Malaysia will battle it out to earn their spot in the final. These teams come from Penang, Kuantan, Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Selangor, and local universities.
Ticket sales start from the 26th of November 2015, and it can be purchased on TGV’s website, mobile app, as well as ticketing counter. There will be three halls opened, and the gaming tournament will be held in Hall 5. On the other hand, hall 1 and 2 will be opened based on demand, and it will stream the tournament real-time from Hall 5.
To be part of the event, those interested will have to purchase a Mountain Dew combo priced at RM20. The combo includes a one day pass (10am to 10pm) to witness the tournament, one regular Mountain Dew soft drink, one regular popcorn, and one Mountain Dew T-shirt.
It’s great to see that TGV Cinemas is contributing to the growth of the e-Sports industry in Malaysia. Having held viewing parties for Dota 2’s The International along with the League of Legends Worlds Finals, it seems the cinema is dedicated to bringing e-sports to the big screen.
