Xiaomi has announced a new version of the existing Mi Air Purifier. The new Mi Air Purifier 2 brings significant improvements over its predecessor. Xiaomi has previously been releasing plenty of products that are not directly related to the mobile market. These include the Ninebot mini, Mi TV, Mi Rainbow AA batteries and ultimately the Mi Air Purifier.
There are plenty of differences between the Mi Air Purifier 2 and its predecessor. For instance, the Mi Air Purifier 2 is now shorter, which makes it lighter as well. Other than that, the base area of the Mi Air Purifier 2 also has a smaller footprint of 240mm x 240mm; the first Mi Air Purifier has a bigger dimension of 260mm x 260mm. Thanks to its smaller size, Xiaomi claims that the Mi Air Purifier 2 has a smaller base area than an A4 paper.
Other than the physical changes, the Mi Air Purifier 2 is also 11% quieter and 58% more power efficient than the older version. These improvements are mostly due to the improved engine and booster fan designs. Xiaomi even went as far to say that its new air purifier sounds like “a gentle breeze.”
The Mi Air Purifier 2 will retail at 699 Chinese yuan, which comes up to about RM460. It will be available in China on the 27th of November 2015, although there isn’t any information on its availability in Malaysia.
