It is a big day for Xiaomi today as not only that the company has announced a new smartphone in the form of Redmi Note 3 but also a new tablet called Mi Pad 2. Interestingly, Xiaomi has also announced a Windows 10 version of Mi Pad 2.
In general, the Windows 10 variant of Mi Pad 2 still carries the same hardware as per its Android – MIUI counterpart. We are looking at 7.9-inch 2048 x 1536 display by Sharp with pixel density of 326 ppi, the 2.2GHz Intel X5-z8500 64-bit quad core processor, and 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM.
The tablet also features 802.11ac dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, 6,190 mAh battery, USB Type-C port, and the support for fast chargers with 5V / 2A rating. Photography-wise, all Mi Pad 2 regardless of operating system is equipped with 8-megapixels camera at its rear and 5-megapixels camera for the front. However, the photography and display enhancement features on Mi Pad 2 will not be available on Windows 10.
From what we gather, this variant of Mi Pad 2 is not equipped with dual-boot capability since the Android and Windows version of the tablet are listed separately on Xiaomi’s official website. Additionally, the Windows version of the tablet is only available with 64GB eMMC-based internal storage. That being said, it does have the same price tag as per its Android counterpart at CNY 1,299 (about RM 863).
The Windows 10 variant of Mi Pad 2 will be released into China in late December which is slightly later than the Android-based Mi Pad 2. For more, check out its official website at mi.com.
