Xiaomi’s power banks have been really popular in Malaysia, and now the company has unveiled its own USB car charger – the Mi USB Car Charger. Considering how often consumers use battery-draining navigation apps, the USB car charger keeps your devices charged with two ports that are capable of outputting up to 3.6A of power.
Xiaomi’s Mi USB Car Charger is made from metal, and it undergoes 18 processes during manufacturing such as engraving and electroplating. The first port of the device supports 5V/3.6A while the second port is capable of charging up to 5V/2.4A. These amperage ratings are much higher compared to the 5V/1.0A ones found in normal USB car chargers.
On top of that, the car charger is also capable of charging your Macbook, provided you brought along the USB Type-C cable. It supports up to 12/24V inputs and is compatible with most cars in the market. Being made from metal, the car charger also has five stages of protection. The device has a microchip that improves the charging conversion rate and stabilises the discharge voltage. Not only that, the device also cuts off power when it gets too hot.
Xiaomi’s Mi USB Car Charger is priced at 49 Chinese yuan (estimated RM32). For a car charger that sports a metallic exterior and has two high-powered charging ports, the Mi USB Car Charger does seem to give other USB car charger manufacturers a run for its money.
