Star Wars Battlefront has been getting a huge promotional push from Sony Computer Entertainment, and it looks like the money spent has been worth it. There are now more players on the PlayStation 4 than both the Xbox One and PC combined.
The most recent Star Wars game launched last week, and has seen an impressive number of players. The last 24 hours have seen a peak of 145,310 players on the PS4; while the Xbox One had 80,914 and the PC seeing a relatively tiny community of 39,622. Player Stats Network, who are the one tracking the number of players, say that they are pulling the stats directly from Electronic Arts’ servers; which provides the most accurate picture of who is online at the time.
It is impressive to see the lead the PS4 has on the other platforms, although there might also be something to do with many PC gamers avoiding the the title. Not everyone is happy with Origin, or how EA conducts business, and most of these people happen to game on the PC. It probably also helps that there is a significantly higher number of PS4s than Xbox Ones sold in the world.
Still, this is probably very good news for PlayStation. Knowing that their work to promote the game on the PS4 has paid off. The hype from the new Star Wars movie probably hasn’t hurt their number either; although it is interesting to note that EA is not reporting sales numbers for Star Wars Battlefront at this moment.
