UPDATE (926pm): The actual opening date and location of “Low Yat 2” within the building has been revealed. More information below.
In case you missed the news back in August, the Minister of Rural and Regional Development, Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has announced that a new consumer electronics retail and wholesale space dubbed as “Low Yat 2” is being developed within the MARA Building in Kuala Lumpur. As promised, members of the public will be able to visit the new establishment very soon.
According to a report earlier today, the minister confirmed that Low Yat 2 will be opened on the first week of December (UPDATE: see below for more information). Additionally, the actual name for the retail space will also be announced at the same time. We not sure what happened to the naming contest that MARA has planned earlier but given that the retail and wholesale space will be launched in two weeks’ time, the agency might have decided not to proceed with it.
With 36 Bumiputera traders out of 1,000 applications have been chosen by MARA to set up their shop at the new space, Ismail Sabri believe that the consumers will be attracted by it due to variety of technology-related services and products that will be offered at lower price than other establishments.
That is a bold claim indeed. Well then, we are looking forward to check out the new establishment once it is opened to customers in few weeks’ times.

UPDATE (926pm): According to Bernama, “Low Yat 2” will be opened on 8 December and it is located on third floor of Menara MARA which is not the big blue building that we showed above but instead, it is a much newer building that is located right next to MARA Building as shown below.
Since the space is not yet officially open, we are still not 100% sure though. Hence, let’s wait until the space is launched by MARA next month just to be safe.
