Samsung has unveiled a rather interesting flip phone in China. Dubbed W2016, this device has some serious hardware packed into a premium chassis made out of glass and metal. Also, one (or rather, two) of the most interesting features of the W2016 is its two separate displays.
As the W2016 is a flip phone, it has a display on the outer shell and another one on the inside of the phone. Both are 3.9-inch 1280 x 768 resolution Super AMOLED displays, which should look pretty sharp for its size. Other than that, the W2016 is powered by Samsung’s very own Exynos 7420 processor, which is also found on the Korean company’s flagship devices this year.
Rounding out the specifications of the W2016 are 3GB of RAM, 64GB of built-in storage, a 13MP primary camera coupled with a 5MP secondary shooter, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box, and oddly enough, a small 2,000mAh battery. Thankfully, Samsung mentioned that the W2016 supports fast charging, which charges up the device to 50% within 30 minutes.
At the time of writing, the Samsung W2016 is only available in China. Chances are, it won’t be sold officially outside of the country. While the W2016’s retail price has not been revealed yet, don’t expect it to be cheap; it’s a premium product after all.
