After six days of Dota 2 battles at Festhall Messe, Germany, the Frankfurt Major has come to an end. Team OG defeated Team Secret in a best of five series, with a 3:1 result to bring the championship title home.
Despite winning the European qualifiers, the team had a rough start in the lower bracket. Team OG defeated Fnatic, Mineski, Virtus Pro, CDEC Gaming, EHOME and the TI5 champion – Evil Geniuses, to secure its spot in the Frankfurt Major finals. The team brought home its share of the prize pool, a cool $1,110,000 (about RM4.7 million).
Both teams played aggressively in the early game, with five kills even before the creeps spawned in the first game. Team OG and Team Secret kept going back and forth in terms of game control, but Team OG always found a way to regain control during the late game. It would’ve been a perfect 3:0 score for OG if Team Secret didn’t pull a win with its Wraith King counter-pick in game three.
With the conclusion of the Frankfurt Major, the Shanghai Major will be coming up next. Hosted by Perfect World, the event will take place at the Mercedes Benz Arena, Shanghai from the 2nd to the 6th of March 2016.
