Just moments ago, AMD has officially unveiled the latest addition to its graphics card line-up – the new Radeon R9 380X. As per its name, the card is generally positioned between Radeon R9 380 and R9 390 in terms of performance output and price point.
Specifications-wise, this is how the new GCN-based graphics card looked like on paper:
According to AMD, the new Radeon R9 380X is able to deliver excellent performance in games at not only full HD (1080p) resolution but also at 1440p. For example, the graphics card apparently managed to hit 58 fps, 60.8 fps, 73 fps, and 54 fps for Star Wars: Battlefront, Battlefield Hardline, Civilization BE, and Dragon Age: Inquisition respectively during AMD’s internal testing. During the test, all these games were set to run on 2560 x 1440 resolution respectively with High graphics preset settings.
In terms of pricing, the standard R9 380X variant goes for USD 229 (RM 993) onwards while overclocked models start at USD 239 (RM 1,034). Quite a number of AMD’s partners have already produced their own take on the graphics card:
However, the release date and pricing information for Radeon R9 380X in Malaysia are not known at the moment. Nevertheless, we’ll keep you posted if there’s any updates regarding them from AMD or its board partners.
