Apple has unveiled an official charging dock for the Apple Watch. The dock uses the same magnetic charging puck that is included with all Apple Watches. This doesn’t come as a surprise to many as it is expected that Apple will eventually release one.
Apple’s new charging dock has a circular white design with the built-in magnetic charging puck attached to the middle. The magnetic charging puck can be altered into two positions: flat or upright. This gives Apple Watch owners the flexibility to charge their smartwatch in Nightstand Mode – introduced on watchOS 2 – or as a normal flat charging pod. The charging dock is powered by Apple’s Lightning to USB cable. Unsurprisingly, the charging dock comes with a two-metre long Lightning cable and a USB power adapter.
The charging dock is now available on Apple’s online stores in regions which the Apple Watch is available. However, it doesn’t come cheap; it costs US$79 (about RM340). Bare in mind that this slightly cheaper alternative by the folks at ElevationLab is also available.
