While many might have heard of ASUS ZenWatch series, the Taiwanese company actually has another wearable device under its sleeve called VivoWatch. Based on several hints that were posted on ASUS Malaysia’s Facebook page since earlier this week, it seems that the device will be released into our market soon.
The first teaser first appeared on Monday in the form of ECG graph which suggested that the product is able to measure user’s heart rate – something that VivoWatch able to do through its VivoPulse optical heart rate sensor. Yesterday, another teaser appeared on the site which further hinted other functionalities of VivoWatch including exercise, step and sleep tracker:
Built with a 128 x 128 low-power, always-on display, the VivoWatch runs on a proprietary operating system instead of Android Wear as per ZenWatch series. Apart from the fitness and wellness functionalities that contained within the device, the IP67-certified VivoWatch also has a long battery life of up to 10 days despite taking only 1 to 2 hours for its battery to be fully charged.
During our last encounter with the device at Computex Taipei earlier this year, we were informed that VivoWatch carries a price tag of USD 149 (around RM 654). We doubt that the price will remain the same over here but nevertheless, we’ll keep you updated once the fitness tracker is made available in Malaysia.
For the mean time, do check out our hands on with VivoWatch right here.
