Digi is currently offering two devices – the Honor 6 and Meizu MX4 for RM499 off-contract. That’s almost half the price of the original retail price, so of course, there is a catch.
Digi is only offering both these devices as a one-time promotion at its campaign in Midvalley Megamall this week. Not only that, according to the promo flyer, those interested will need to submit three month’s worth of upfront payment for the Digi Smartplan 65 V. The plan does come with 3GB of mobile data, so it could be the company’s way of roping new customers in. If it doesn’t work out, customers can opt-out of the postpaid plan anytime they want.
Just a recap, the Honor 6 is a 5-inch smartphone that runs on a Kirin 920 processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It has a 13MP rear shooter with a 5MP front-facing camera. On the other hand, the Meizu MX4 has a 5.4-inch screen, running on a MediaTek MT6595 processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage for the base model. The camera on the rear is a 20.7MP shooter, while the front houses a 2MP camera.
Also, do note that this offer is available only to new customers and customers who switch from Digi’s prepaid to postpaid plans. After adding in the upfront payment and GST to the device price, RM735.64 is the amount that customers need to pay to bring home the phone.
