Even though the news of Apple iPad Pro’s arrival in Malaysia was already known since earlier this week, the local pricing for the new tablet was only made public yesterday as the company begins taking order for the tablet. Apart from being the largest iPad at the moment with its 12.9-inch display, iPad Pro has also been touted as the most powerful tablet that Apple has produced so far mainly thanks to its new A9X 64-bit processor.
Hence, it is not surprising that the extra firepower that comes with iPad Pro also resulted in higher asking price as compared to other iPads. In fact, the iPad Pro is still the most expensive iPad at the moment as you can easily see through this comparison against other previously released iPads that are still on sale in Malaysia even though the price of these older iPads have been increased recently:
For users that want to further take advantage of iPad, they might want to get their hands on Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard which are priced at RM 469 and RM 799 respectively. The total cost of ownership for iPad Pro would then goes up to between RM 4,068 to RM 6,167.
Meanwhile, we have also come out with another table for those who wondering how does the pricing of iPad Pro fares against Microsoft Surface Pro 4 which will be released in Malaysia next week. This is how it looks like:
Surface Pro 4 also has its own stylus called Surface Pen which goes for RM 259 but comes together with each Surface Pro 4 without any additional costs. The only accessories that customers usually want to purchase together with their Surface is a Type Cover which is currently priced at RM 529. This means that the total cost of ownership for Surface Pro 4 would be between RM 4,528 to RM 10,328.
While iPad Pro certainly costs less than Surface Pro 4, some would point out that Surface Pro 4 is a full-fledged Windows 10 PC in a tablet form factor as opposed to iPad Pro that runs on iOS which is more restrictive since it is a mobile operating system. That is certainly a different discussion altogether but for now, what you looking at here are just the basic numbers that you might want to consider before you fork out your hard earned money to purchase any of the tablets that we’ve just mentioned above.
