Remember the HP Star Wars Special Edition Notebook, globally unveiled last month? With most special edition notebooks rarely available in Malaysia, it is perhaps a surprise to know that a local electronics shop is officially bringing it to Malaysia as early as this Friday.
The HP Star Wars Special Edition Notebook is a decently-specced laptop, offering the latest Intel 6th generation Skylake processors and NVIDIA’s GeForce 900M GPU. It’s powered by an Intel Core i5-6200U processor with an NVIDIA GeForce 940M GPU, 8GB DDR3 RAM, 1TB hard drive, and has a 15.6-inch Full HD display.
Just as important are the features that make this a unique collector’s item. The entire exterior is draped in a “battle-worn distressed design with ‘Galactic Empire’ written in the unique Star Wars Aurebesh font,” while the touchpad design is inspired from the X-wing targeting computer while it flies down the trench on the Death Star.
Besides that, HP also added plenty of customisations and special additions into the software. The default Windows sound effects have been replaced with those from the movies, while the Star Wars Command Centre unlocks thousands of images, as well as comics, e-books, and select Star Wars movie trailers.

The sole retailer of the HP Star Wars Special Edition Notebook appears to be local electronics company Aone Plus via local e-commerce sites Lazada and 11Street, where the model with the specs stated above will retail for RM3,999 inclusive of a free Razer Abyssus gaming mouse, a HP backpack, and two years of on-site warranty. In the US, the equivalent model retails for $749.99 (about RM3,270), not inclusive of local taxes. The online listing also state that stocks will be available from 13 November.
When contacted, HP Malaysia confirmed that the notebook is indeed coming to Malaysia soon in mid-November, but stopped short on confirming the official retail price as well as the actual availability.
