Seeing how vapes have become such a huge thing (especially in Malaysia), it was only a matter of time before a product like Jupiter is made. In essence, Jupiter is a smartphone that you can smoke. It is touted as the “world’s first and only cellular vaporiser.”
The company behind this product is Vaporcade, which aims to combine a vape and a smartphone with the Jupiter. Vaporcade claims that it is working with Herbert A. Gilbert, one of the first individuals to patent an electronic cigarette. Seems promising, right? Not quite.
While this product may be every vaper’s dream, Jupiter isn’t exactly a shipping product…yet. “This device has not been authorised as required by the rules of the Federal Communications Commission. This device is not, and may not be, offered for sale or lease, or sold or leased, until authorisation is obtained,” Vaporcade wrote.
Other than that, there is barely any information on the Jupiter’s specification. From what we can gather, we only know that it is running on Android 4.4 KitKat, which is pretty ancient by today’s standards. However, Vaporcade did point out that the vaporiser is attached on top of the device, and a “proprietary vaping app” comes with Jupiter as well. The app seems to be able to control the voltage and power of the vaporiser.
Whether or not Jupiter is merely vaporware remains to be seen. After all, phone casings that double as vapes are already a thing. If it does eventually materialise, however, we imagine vapers will be interested. The Jupiter is priced at US$299 (about RM1,290) and US$499 (approximately RM2,150) for the 3G and 4G variants respectively.
