Music should be social, right? That is why Facebook is taking another attempt to merge music into its platform by introducing Music Stories. This is the company’s new way of allowing Facebook users to share and discover music.
Music Stories is launched with the support of Apple Music and Spotify and the feature is currently only available on the Facebook app for iOS. These music streaming services will host the audio playback on the posts, allowing users to listen to a 30-second snippet of the song or album right from the Facebook app.
If they like them, they can purchase the song directly or save it into their respective music service’s playlists. However, if an Apple Music user stumbles upon a song shared from Spotify, he or she can’t directly purchase or save the song. Users can also click through the posts to listen to the full stream on the respective music streaming service.
We hope Facebook will include more streaming services like Deezer, Pandora and Tidal just to cater to music lovers on other platforms. Our Facebook news feed has been our source of information to entertainment, it would only make sense to share new music on something that we would use everyday.
