Google has announced two new features for YouTube, specifically for the world of virtual reality. If you have a Google Cardboard lying around, it’s time to pick it up and binge watch your favorite YouTube videos all over again.
First, YouTube now supports VR video. Virtual reality videos gives the viewers a sense of depth, so that they would feel that they’re actually there experiencing the moment. Coupled with YouTube’s 360-degree videos, this will make for an even more immersive experience. All you need to do is play a VR video like The Hunger Games Experience, touch the Cardboard icon, pop it into the Google Cardboard and you’re all set.
In addition, all existing videos will also have a touch of virtual reality. You only need to play a video, touch the new VR icon from the menu, pop it into the Google Cardboard and you can start experiencing VR – with every video there is on YouTube. Here’s an idea, go on a parkour run or bungee jumping.
The feature is currently only available for Android users, so iOS users will have to wait a little longer.
