Over the weekend, the Mercedes Benz Arena in Berlin had seen this year’s fiercest battle as League of Legends powerhouse team, SK Telecom T1 battled against KOO Tigers. Both teams had only one goal in their mind, and that was the Worlds championship title.
Even though we couldn’t be at Berlin, we attended the League of Legends Worlds Viewing Party at TGV Cinemas held by Garena. TGV Cinemas broadcasted the live feed from Astro and despite the signal getting interrupted by the rain, Garena and TGV had a plan B of streaming it from the internet.
SKT T1 managed to defeat ahq e-Sports Club and team Origen to secure their spot in the grand finals. On the other hand, the underdogs KOO Tigers fought past KT Rolster and even Fnatic to contend for the Worlds Championship title.
The event in Berlin started with an amazing opening ceremony that included cinematics as well as a soundtrack made in collaboration with Nicki Taylor. Both teams were introduced and took their positions for the games to start.
Each match was fierce as SKT came into the finals with their undefeated streak. However, that all changed when Koo Tigers managed to defeat them in game 3 of the finals.
SKT delivered the final blow in game 4 as they took down the Nexus at the 34th minute, making them the two-time Worlds Champions. In three years, SKT managed to become the League of Legends Worlds Champions twice by ending this year’s battle with a victory score of 15-1.
