Plantronics has officially launched their new wireless Bluetooth stereo headset targeted for the workspace. Geared especially toward millenials, the Voyager Focus UC will be the latest product in the company’s Voyager line-up.
The Voyager Focus UC is designed for enterprise workers who work in an open office or loud environments. The ‘UC’ in the product name stands for unified communication and the headset is designed to help its user focus. This is achieved with the wireless headset’s main feature – active noise-cancellation (ANC).
The device is capable of connecting to eight devices at a time with two concurrent active sessions via a Bluetooth USB mini-adapter. It utilises a Class 1 Bluetooth with adaptive power onboard which gives the headphone a wireless range of up to 150 feet. Not to mention, the closer the user is to the adapter, the less power the headset uses.
There is also the Dynamic Mute Alert technology which essentially senses speech and alerts the user if the mute function is still active. In addition, the headset mutes itself when it’s taken off, and unmutes when it gets put back on. Besides that, Plantronics have also added sensors into the headphone. This allows users to answer a call by putting the headphones on, which in turn mutes media playback.
In terms of design, the headphone features a slim profile with swiveling ear cups. The ear cushions are made of leather, wrapped around memory foam. The metal headband on the top is cushioned and the headphone can take a fair amount of stretch.
Plantronic’s Voyager Focus UC will be sold for RM1,518 and it ships with a charging dock as well as a carrying case. Since it’s geared towards enterprise workers, when asked about availability for the consumer market, the company has said that they are still working on it.
