Sony’s latest range of its flagship Xperia Z5 smartphones are finally available in Malaysia. Priced from RM2,299, the company will be releasing the Xperia Z5 Dual, Xperia Z5 Compact, and the Xperia Z5 Premium Dual.
Announced at IFA 2015 in September, the new Xperia Z5 series mark the first time the company has released three devices in its flagship lineup. Besides the standard and Compact versions, Sony Mobile also introduced the Xperia Z5 Premium, which sports a 4K display – the first ever on a smartphone.

All three devices are powered by the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa core processor. Also notable is the introduction of a brand new 23MP Exmor RS for mobile sensor, marking the first time Sony has changed its camera sensor since the Xperia Z1. The front camera is a 5MP Exmor R shooter.
In addition, the Xperia Z5 series also introduces a fingerprint sensor for the first time. Located on the redesigned power button it allows users to unlock instantly after pressing the power button. Not to forget, the device is also IP68-rated for dust and water resistance.
There are several key differences between the three models, notably in the display and battery capacity. The Z5 Premium sports a 5.5-inch 4K display and a larger 3,430mAh battery, while the Xperia Z5 Dual sports a more modest 5.2-inch Full HD display and a 2,900mAh battery. On the other hand, the Z5 Compact features a 4.6-inch 720p display and a 2,700mAh battery.
Like its predecessors, the Xperia Z5 series retain the company’s handsome OmniBalance design, which is now a signature of Sony’s devices. However, there are some subtle differences, notably in the back: the glass back on the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact is made from frosted glass, thus reducing the smudges and fingerprints that are an annoyance of glass backs. On the other hand, the Z5 Premium sports a mirror finish at the back, with the exclusive Chrome colourway particularly fetching.

The Xperia Z5 Premium, however, will only be available towards the end of the year and its price has not been revealed. As a limited time promotion, each purchase of the Xperia Z5 smartphones will come with limited edition Spectre merchandise worth a total of RM427.
