honor has officially announced the successor to the honor 4X. Aptly named the honor 5X, this affordable device is superior to the 4X is many, many ways. These include a more premium metal construction and a fingerprint sensor. The best part? It retails from 999 Chinese yuan, which comes up to about RM670.
The honor 5X is almost like an entirely different device than its predecessor. For one, it’s not powered by a HiSilicon Kirin processor anymore; under the hood of the 5X is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor instead. Other than that, it also has a sharper 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080 IPS display now, an upgrade over the 4X’s 720p panel.
Aesthetically, the honor 5X has a striking resemblance to its higher-end sibling, the honor 7. Both devices have textured areas on the top and bottom of their respective rear panel along with a fingerprint sensor. The slightly curved back of the 5X is also reminiscent of the Huawei Mate S. If the official images of the 5X are anything to go by, it seems like a well-built device.
Other specifications of the honor 5X include 2GB or 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot which supports cards up to 128GB, a 3,000mAh battery, and Emotion UI 3.1 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. In the camera department, the 5X has 13MP rear and 5MP front-facing shooters.
At the time of writing, the honor 5X is only available in China. That being said, as honor has an official presence in Malaysia, it could be launched on our shores sometime in the future. The 5X retails at 999 yuan (about RM670) and 1,399 yuan (approximately RM940) for the 2GB and 3GB RAM variants respectively in China.
