The urban sprawl has had the unintended consequence of disrupting mobile communications. Building block radio waves, degrading the performance of telecommunication networks in built up areas. Ericsson aims to improve the situation by introducing the Ericsson Radio System .
The Ericsson Radio System product family aims to provide mobile coverage on a wider scale, and sets local telcos up for the inevitable arrival of 5G telecommunications. It boost the need for a more robust network to deal with the higher demands for mobile data from apps.
These radio systems solutions tap into local networks that were originally set-up for voice services and boosts it accordingly. According to Ericsson, their Radio Systems reduce energy requirements, site space as well as installation time.
Todd Ashton, head of Ericsson Malaysia and Sri Lanka has stated that “the new modular, compact and energy-efficient Ericsson Radio System is an ideal platform for Ericsson to support the business of operators in Malaysia today, laying the foundation for 5G and the Networked Society.”
Complementing the radio system, is the Ericsson Radio Dot System; which is a more specific solution for the inside of buildings. Cellular connections often suffer on the inside of large buildings due to the nature of their construction, and Ericsson believes that its offering is capable of alleviating the issue.
