After it was first released in China and India around a year ago, the HTC One (M8 EYE) has finally made its way into Malaysia. We have no idea what actually stopped the company from releasing this particular smartphone in Malaysia for the past 12 months but it is certainly one of the longest delay we’ve ever encountered.
As a refresher for all the readers out there that already forget what One (M8 EYE) has to offer, it is basically another variant of One (M8) that features a 13-megapixels sensor instead of the much dreaded 4-megapixels Ultrapixels sensor on its rear camera. The secondary rear camera which acts as a depth sensor still remains as well as the 5-megapixels front facing camera.
Other hardware included in the One (M8 EYE) are 5-inch full HD (1920 x 1080) display, a slightly underclocked 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor, 16GB internal storage, and 2GB RAM. It is also equipped with a 2,600 mAh battery that provide the LTE-enabled phone with up to 24 hours of 3G talk time and 309 hours of 3G standby time.
In terms of pricing, the One (M8 EYE) is priced at RM 1,399 which is certainly cheaper than One (M8) and Desire EYE’s launch price in Malaysia. Given the phone’s late arrival, such comparison is rather moot though and furthermore, HTC is now positioning it as mid-range device instead of its original high-end status.
Expect to see the One (M8 EYE) in Gunmetal Grey colourway at retailers around Malaysia from this week onwards.
