Malaysia is finally stepping up in the e-Sports industry with the Ministry of Communication and Media (MCMC) recruiting Malaysia’s first international Dota 2 team, “Taring”. The recruitment will be done at the Malaysia Cyber Games 2015.
At RM300,000, the Malaysia Cyber Games will have the largest prize pool ever in Malaysia. The event is to essentially recruit players to represent Malaysia in Dota 2 tournaments both locally and internationally. Other than Dota 2, the competition will also have other games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO), FIFA 2016 and Street Fighter IV.
Oddly enough, the organiser did not mention how the prize pool will be divided among the game categories. That being said, RM300,000 is still a figure not to be taken lightly. Besides that, there will also be guest appearances by the world’s top 10 Dota 2 players along with gaming exhibitions, food trucks, simulator games and more.
Malaysia Cyber Games will be held in Stadium Negara from 11 to 13 December 2015. Those interested in the event can register either as a visitor or participant. More information on the Malaysia Cyber Games – such as ticket pricing and registration fees – can be found here.
