Samsung Malaysia’s J-series has always been the company’s budget-friendly line of smartphones and now it’s adding two more phones to the line-up – the Galaxy J1 ace and the Galaxy J2.
The J1 ace is similar to its predecessor (Galaxy J1) except that it now runs on a quad-core 1.2GHz processor paired with 768MB RAM. In terms of storage, it still has 4GB of internal memory with microSD expansion support up to 128GB. On the back, it has the same 5MP camera with a 2MP camera on the front. As for connectivity, it has dual-sim capabilities with newly-added support for LTE. The battery got slightly bumped up to a 1,900mAh battery but it still runs on Android 4.4 KitKat.
On the other hand, the Galaxy J2 sports a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED screen with 540×960 pixels. Under the hood, it runs on a quad-core 1.3GHz Exynos 3475 processor coupled with 1GB RAM. For memory capacity, it has 8GB of internal memory with microSD expansion capabilities of up to 128GB. It has a 5MP snapper on the rear with a 2MP shooter on the front. In terms of connectivity, the Galaxy J2 features dual-sim capabilities as well as LTE support. Giving the device its power is a 2,000mAh battery and it runs on the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
These devices are now available at Samsung stores nationwide. The Galaxy J1 ace comes in white, black and a rather striking blue colour while the Galaxy J2 comes in white, black and gold, reminiscent to the higher-end Note and S series.
The Galaxy J1 ace will be sold for RM399 and the Galaxy J2 will set users back RM599. The Galaxy J5 and J7 are also available and will be sold for RM799 and RM999 respectively. All prices are inclusive of GST.
