Oppo has announced a brand new addition to its R7 lineup of smartphones, the R7s. At first glance, it doesn’t look very different from its other three siblings, the R7, R7 Lite, and R7 Plus, but it does offer a few standout features.
One of which is the amount of RAM on the R7s; it is the first device in the R7 family to have 4GB of RAM, which should help with multitasking. Other than that, it also has a 5.5-inch 1080p display, placing it right between the R7 (5-inch) and the R7 Plus (6-inch) in terms of display size.
Along with the bigger display is a larger battery as well. The R7s has a reasonably sized 3,070mAh battery with support for Oppo’s VOOC fast charging technology. Other than that, the R7s is powered by the very same Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor found on the other Oppo R7 devices.
Rounding out the R7s’ specifications are 32GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, a 13MP rear camera, an 8MP front-facing shooter, and ColorOS 2.1 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. Based on its hardware, the R7s could be priced between the R7 and R7 Plus, which goes for RM1,598 and RM1,998 respectively in Malaysia.
The Oppo R7s will be launched in Australia along with a number of Asian countries sometime next month. Whether or not Malaysia is part of the list remains to be seen.
