ZTE has finally confirmed the specifications of the Axon Mini, a smaller variant to the more powerful Axon Elite. Unveiled a few months back alongside the Axon and Axon Lux in China, the Axon Mini is technically the first device to sport a pressure-sensitive display, even before the Huawei Mate S was officially announced.
As the Axon Mini comes with a pressure-sensitive display, it offers a new range of experience and functionality, according to ZTE. Apparently, users can set passwords using this feature, although the Chinese company did not elaborate how it will exactly work.
Other than that, the Axon Mini boasts pretty respectable hardware. It has a 5.2-inch 1920 x 1080 resolution Super AMOLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor paired with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage (expandable with a microSD card up to 128GB), a 2,800mAh battery, and an aluminium construction. Rounding out the specifications are triple biometric scanning – just like the Axon Elite, a 13MP rear camera with PDAF, an 8MP front-facing shooter, and an AKM4961 Hi-Fi audio chipset.
The ZTE Axon Mini will be made available in Malaysia in the next couple of months. As for its retail price, the Ion Gold and Chromium Silver colour options will go for US$379 (about RM1,570), while the Rose Gold model is set at US$399 (approximately RM1,650). Interestingly, there is also a Premium Edition of the Axon Mini that retails at US$439 (around RM1,815), although ZTE did not clarify how this variant differs from the standard model.
