We have spotted very interesting products on SIRIM lately. Just yesterday the Motorola Moto X Play appeared in the database, and today, we’ve stumbled upon Sony’s latest smartphone, the Xperia Z5 Compact. Oddly enough, its other two siblings, the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Premium, are nowhere to be found.
While it’s pretty odd to only see the Xperia Z5 Compact on SIRIM, there’s a good chance the other two models will appear there eventually. After all, all three devices form the Xperia Z5 lineup, not to mention how the Z5 Compact isn’t even the most well-equipped model among the three devices.

That being said, the Z5 Compact still boasts very respectable hardware. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor paired with 2GB of RAM, up to 32GB of internal storage (expandable with a microSD card up to 200GB), IP65 and IP68 rating, a side fingerprint sensor, a 2,700mAh battery that promises up to two days of battery life, and a 4.6-inch 720p display. While a 1080p display would’ve been nicer, with a pixel density of 319ppi, the display should be plenty sharp.
What makes the Z5 Compact particularly interesting is its rear camera, which is the same 23MP camera found on the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Premium. According to DxOMark, this is the best mobile camera the company has ever tested. Needless to say, that’s a very impressive feat. Other than that, the Z5 Compact also has a 5MP front-facing shooter.
Seeing how Sony has registered the Xperia Z5 Compact on SIRIM, it should just be a matter of time before it is officially launched here. Hopefully the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Premium will be launched alongside it as well.
