It seems like Xiaomi Malaysia has registered a rather peculiar product on SIRIM. With the model number “WS-SQB916,” it showed up on SIRIM as a Bluetooth device. When we did a quick Google search, it led us to…a Bluetooth selfie stick.
However, the selfie stick with that particular model number doesn’t seem to be a Xiaomi-branded product, and it doesn’t exactly have the same design as the Bluetooth selfie stick the company unveiled earlier this year (although it does look remarkably similar). However, it’s likely that Xiaomi simply rebranded an OEM selfie stick, which isn’t unheard of.
In any case, if the selfie stick registered on SIRIM is the very same product Xiaomi unveiled earlier this year, users will be able to snap pictures while the smartphone is attached to the selfie stick. This is possible thanks to the remote shutter button that is connected to the device via Bluetooth. Other than that, the selfie stick can be extended up to 85cm, and features a holder that can be adjusted up to 180 degrees.
It’s not often Xiaomi Malaysia registers a product on SIRIM. Does this mean the Chinese company is gearing up to launch something in Malaysia? We’ll just have to wait to find out. For now, selfie lovers will have something to put on their wish list.
