Earlier this week, U Mobile has announced that its first phase of expansion for its LTE network is now completed. Interestingly, the company claimed that the expansion which involves 1,000 new locations was completed three months ahead of what it has originally scheduled.
The company stated these locations are spread through various areas in Klang Valley, Negeri Sembilan, and Johor. In general, the addition of these new sites are meant to enable more U Mobile customers in these locations to enjoy Internet speed of up to 75 Mbps especially given that 70% of its customers are actually smartphone users.
At the same time, U Mobile is also currently working to complete new 1,000 3G sites by the end of this year. The telco has also revealed that it has also planned to add 5,000 more new sites within the next 5 years with 60% of them being 3G sites and 40% LTE sites.
Furthermore, U Mobile has also planned to set its foot in Penang and Melaka in 2016 and 2017 respectively. All in all, seems like the telco is working hard to increase its footprint in the market not only through competitive pricing but network capabilities as well.
