We all know that the Sony Xperia Z5 lineup of smartphones (Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact and Xperia Z5 Premium) packs an amazing next generation 23MP camera from the Japanese company, but just how good is the camera? According to DxOMark, it is the best mobile camera the company has tested so far.
According to DxOMark’s review, the Sony Xperia Z5 scored a total of 88 points for photos and 86 points for videos, putting it ahead of the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge, who was previously on the top of the charts, with 88 points for photos and 84 points for videos.
For taking photos, DxOMark says that the Xperia Z5 has “impressive autofocus in all conditions”, and that it is the best tested to date. The white balance and colour rendering is very good in most situations, and there is a good flash exposures with good white balance and good detail preservation. As for videos, DxOMark says that the image stabilization is “far head of the competition”.
However, not everything is perfect. The camera on the Z5 can sometimes saturate the sky and skies appears burnt on high dynamic scenes. Video wise, even with a tripod attached, some tremours are visible, and autofocus tends to be a little slow in low light conditions.
