Our Facebook profile pages have remained the same for the longest time now, and it looks like Facebook wants to change that. The social network company is now releasing an update to profile pages on mobile devices that “better present information about you and your friends in a more visually engaging way”.
The new design will now put a large profile picture right in the center of the window. Facebook is also testing video profiles that let you put small video clip of up to 7 seconds as your profile picture. On top of that, you may now set temporary Facebook profile pictures and have it revert back to the old one after a predetermined period of time. Like changing your Facebook profile picture to support a cause, and have it revert back after it’s over.
Beyond the profile pictures, Facebook is also allowing users to further customise their profile. You can now add a short bio of yourself (yes, it supports emoji), select photos to feature, followed by a revamped interface of your latest photos, and friends. The usual Timeline will be shown at the bottom with infinite scrolling.
Sadly though, the new interface isn’t available right now. Facebook says that they are testing these features to a small number of users in selected countries and will be rolled out to more people soon. What do you think of Facebook’s new profile interface for mobile devices?
