Tesla has been known to be rather playful with the features in its cars, but this latest revelation makes us think that Elon Musk is a little too excited for Fallout 4. The new Tesla Model X is an all electric SUV that features defences against potential biological attacks.
Musk describes the air filters in the Model X as providing “hospital level air quality”. Essentially, the High-Efficiency Particulate Arrestance filter in the Model X is 10 times larger than that found in other cars. When the Bioweapon Defence Mode is engaged, it turns the filters up to maximum level and is 300 times better at filtering bacteria, 500 times better at filtering allergens, 700 times better at filtering smog, and 800 times better at filtering viruses. Essentially, nothing but air is getting into that car.
To make things more interesting, the Bioweapon Defence Mode is a real button that can be pushed; giving the Model X an extra futuristic vibe. This is in addition to the “Ludicrous Mode” that was introduced in other Tesla vehicles, and a sound system that literally goes up to 11. Ludicrous Mode isn’t quite all that unusual, and would generally be called Sport Mode on other cars.
The Tesla Model X starts at $132,000 (about RM584,000) which isn’t cheap. But what else do you expect from the guy who is “trying to be a leader in apocalyptic defense scenarios”.
