Nintendo has announced a list of six 3DS games that will be joining its Nintendo Selects range. The selection will be the first handheld console titles to join Nintendo’s stable of games which are priced lower than other games, and will be relaunched on 16 October.
The games in question are The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Star Fox 64 3D, nintendogs/cats, Mario Tennis Open, Yoshi’s New Island, and Mario Party: Island Tour. Admittedly, the main draw from this lot is A Link Between Worlds although Star Fox 64 is a decent title. Nintendogs/cats may appeal to those who prefer more casual games, and the lower price tag will probably help sell what is a rather old title by now.
Nintendo Select games have an RRP of $19.99 (about RM88), although this could potentially be much lower considering that they are for the Nintendo 3DS. The Japanese publisher has not revealed anything about the pricing, although it isn’t expected to deviate much from what it has already been doing.
There is a notably absence of Mario platformer games, although half of the announced titles are from the same franchise. Nintendo is expected to expand the list of games over time, and should also be compiling a list of player choice games like it did for the Nintendo Selects range for the rest of its consoles.
