Microsoft is expected to officially announce its newest flagship smartphones in New York next week. As is the case with flagship announcements in the tech industry, almost everything has ended up leaking onto the internet in the days leading up to the event.

CAD renders of the Lumia 950 appeared online yesterday, and showed a device that looks very much like any other Lumia smartphone. The main difference looks to be the embossed Windows logo on the back, and the addition of a speaker grill next to the camera sensor. The Lumia 950 XL, on the other hand, greatly resembles the Lumia 1020 with its distinctive black camera sensor.
Earlier leaks had revealed the specifications of both the Lumia flagships. The leak from South America mainly confirmed earlier rumours that showed the specifications of the Lumia 950 and 950 XL. It did, however, include the battery capacities of the phones. The 3000 mAh on the Lumia 950 is a substantial size, while the 3300 mAh on the Lumia 950 XL should provide the phone with very long legs.
For the most part, the leaked specifications are
Lumia 950
- 5.2-inch QuadHD
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 808
- 20MP PureView camera with OIS and dual-flash
- 5MP front camera
- 32GB internal storage
- 3GB RAM
- 3000 mAh battery
- USB Type-C port
Lumia 950 XL
- 5.7-inch QuadHD
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 810
- 20MP PureView rear camera with OIS and triple flash
- 5MP front camera
- 32GB internal storage
- 3GB of RAM
- 3300 mAh battery
- USB Type-C port
There’s no word on any estimated pricing, but that might be a little much to be asking for considering the number of leaks already available. Microsoft is set to announce the flagship phones at its event in New York on 6 October, where the rest of the details will be filled in.
