If you have been depending on MyTeksi to get around town but not in favor of paying cash directly to the driver, that is about to change very soon. Starting from this week, the company has added cashless payment option into its popular taxi booking app.
Referred to as GrabPay, users must first add their credit or debit card into MyTeksi app through the newly added Payment Methods settings before they are able to utilize the cashless payment option. Once added, users will be charged SGD 1 (around RM 3) as part of pre-authorization process which will be refunded back to the card holder once the hold period expires.
However, this cashless option is only applicable for MyTeksi’s GrabCar (Economy) and GrabCar+ (Premium) on-demand chauffeured services which are technically different from the budget and executive taxi services that are also available through the app. Additionally, it seems that GrabPay only accepts MasterCard and VISA cards at the moment.
Not forget, the company pointed out that GrabPay is still under beta testing which means that users might occasionally encounter some issues here and there. Users are advised to get in touch directly with MyTeksi’s team if they ever encountered such situations.
