Anyone here still using Windows RT 8.1? No, Microsoft is still not going to offer Windows 10 for your machine. Nevertheless, it is now time to download the update that the company has previously promised for the operating system which include one of the most touted feature from Windows 10…its Start Menu.
Available through Windows Update, this particular feature is implemented into the Windows RT 8.1 via an optional update labelled as KB3033055. Just like Windows 10, the new Start Menu for Windows RT 8.1 also includes Live Tiles integration but the left column section of the menu does look different though as it resembles Windows 7 rather than Windows 10.
Meanwhile, the Start Menu can be disabled through the operating system’s Taskbar and Start Menu Properties for users that prefer to use the Start Screen instead. Such option is not available on Windows 10 though as users need to switch to Tablet Mode in order to utilize the Start Screen.
It also seems that there are other optional updates released at the same time as well from what we’ve learned so far, none of them are as significant as KB3033055. So, keep a look for it through Windows Update in order to obtain the new Start Menu for your Windows RT 8.1 devices.
