The much anticipated sequel to Gravity Rush has been announced at Sony’s Tokyo Game Show 2015 pre-show briefing, but unfortunately, it won’t be released on its original platform, the PlayStation Vita. Instead, Gravity Rush 2 will be exclusively available on the PlayStation 4, along with a remaster of the first game.
Gravity Rush 2 seems to feature the same art style along with several new additions. There are a new variety of enemies along with a new gameplay mechanic that has yet to be explained. This new mechanic seems to be tied to the new accessories worn by Kat on her limbs. Other than that, the game’s core theme seems to be retained as well; players can still control gravity to their liking.
With this announcement, it just shows how much focus Sony is putting on the highly successful PlayStation 4. If even one of the best PlayStation Vita games’ sequel is not announced for the platform itself, the future of the handheld device seems to be pretty bleak; unless you fancy indie games, of course.
The remastered version of Gravity Rush for the PlayStation 4 will be available on 10th February 2016. As for the sequel, Gravity Rush 2, it does not have a specific launch date yet, but it will be hitting store shelves in 2016.
